The fund invests in a number of long-term growth trends such as digital consumption, digital finance, artificial intelligence, local brands, luxury goods, personal care and consumer health. The fund managers focus on selecting stocks of structural winners within these trends. The stock selection is based on fundamental analysis. The fund's objective is to achieve a better return than the broad equity index.

Jack Neele is Portfolio Manager of the Robeco Global Consumer Trends strategy and member of the Thematic Investing team. Jack started his career in the investment industry in 1999 and prior to joining Robeco, he was a Global Equity Portfolio Manager at Fortis MeesPierson. He holds a Master’s in Econometrics from Erasmus University Rotterdam and is a Certified European Financial Analyst. Richard Speetjens is a portfolio manager and Head of the Thematic Investing team. He is also Deputy Head of Fundamental Equity. He has managed the strategy since December 2010. He joined Robeco as a Portfolio Manager European Equities in 2007. Previously, Richard was Portfolio Manager European Equities at Van Lanschot Asset Management and at Philips Investment Management. Richard holds a Master's in Business Economics and Finance from Maastricht University and is a CFA® Charterholder.

Tracking error ex-post (%) The ex-post tracking error is defined as the volatility of the fund's achieved excess return over the index return. In fund management, most managers are subject to an ex-ante (pre-determined) tracking error, which defines the extent of the additional risk they may take when aspiring to outperform the fund's benchmark. The ex-post tracking error explains the distribution of past fund performances compared to those of its underlying benchmark. With a higher tracking error, the fund's returns deviate more from its index's returns, hence there is a greater chance that the fund may outperform. The fund is established in Luxembourg and is subject to the Luxembourg tax laws and regulations. The fund is not liable to pay any corporation, income, dividend or capital gains tax in Luxembourg. The fund is subject to an annual subscription tax ('tax d'abonnement') in Luxembourg, which amounts to 0.05% of the net asset value of the fund. This tax is included in the net asset value of the fund. The fund can in principle use the Luxembourg treaty network to partially recover any withholding tax on its income.

Equity markets largely looked through geopolitical tensions and higher inflation as investors remained focused on artificial intelligence beneficiaries and an improving earnings outlook. Global equities were volatile but resilient, with leadership broadening as defensive sectors such as healthcare, utilities and staples were in favor. Demand for AI infrastructure, memory, processors and cloud capacity continued to support strong performance in the semiconductor sector despite rising concerns around returns on AI-related capital expenditure. Macro developments were dominated by events in the Middle East. Oil prices initially rose on supply concerns but fully reversed their gains as tensions eased. Investors also focused on the Federal Reserve, with falling oil prices and a moderating labor market reducing expectations for further policy tightening. The MSCI All Country World Index (EUR) returned 1.2% in June. Robeco Global Consumer Trends slightly outperformed the reference index during the month.

Based on transaction prices, the fund's return was 0.52%. The Health & Hygiene and Experience Economy themes delivered a strong performance during the month, partially offset by weaker results within the AI Revolution theme. The latter lagged due to the weak performance of several large-cap technology companies. Health & Hygiene benefited from a broadening of market leadership beyond the AI-related hyperscalers. Investor participation expanded into sectors such as healthcare, industrials and consumer staples, reflecting growing confidence in the broader earnings outlook. Natera was a notable contributor following positive clinical, regulatory and reimbursement developments that strengthened expectations for future growth. Within Experience Economy, Take-Two Interactive performed strongly after announcing the start of Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders, increasing investor confidence in the game's launch timing and commercial potential. The Next Generation Consumer theme underperformed, as concerns emerged around future consumption growth. In the US, disposable income growth weakened, while in China, subdued consumer confidence continued to weigh on spending, negatively affecting holdings such as Alibaba and BYD.

Given the uncertain macro and geopolitical climate, our quality growth style seems well suited for the current investment climate. We believe long-term investors should focus on high quality businesses with valuable intangible assets, high margins, and superior returns on capital. Companies with these traits have historically delivered above average returns while offering downside protection. These firms are also poised to deliver healthy revenue and earnings growth, and we expect them to generate attractive long-term returns as a result. We believe premium valuations for these businesses are justified given the quality of their business models, the high levels of earnings growth and the sustainability of their franchises.
