Healthy Living

Good health is increasingly recognized as a powerful human and economic asset. Beyond improving the quality of life, it helps individuals remain independent, active, and engaged – enabling sustained vitality throughout all of life’s stages.

The global economy is entering a new era, defined by longer lives and lower birth rates. Health is no longer just about treating illnesses, but increasingly about maximizing wellbeing and extending healthy years, enabling people to contribute to society for longer. By living longer and stronger, individuals can achieve their full potential, driving a more productive workforce, stronger communities and more resilient economic growth. Healthy living is therefore central to solving the demographic dilemma of longevity while unlocking economic opportunities.

Why invest in healthy living?

In a world of longer lives and lower birth rates, the focus is shifting from healthcare as a cost center toward health as an asset with a very high return on investment.

Enhancing global health could generate approximately 288 million additional full-time-equivalent work years by 2050, more than twice the current US labor force (McKinsey Health Institute). As older populations become the primary source of labor force growth in developed markets, this transition requires reimagining longevity – not as a drag on output but as an underutilized source of growth.

Technology is rapidly evolving as a key enabler in this transition. Healthcare is becoming one of the most compelling real-world applications of AI, rapidly powering enhancements in drug discovery, diagnostics, clinical decision-making and operational efficiency.

Far from the clinics and labs, in factories and warehouses, automation and productivity technologies are reducing the intensity of work, enabling older workers to participate in the workforce for longer.

Meanwhile, consumer empowerment and intensifying demand for prevention is driving growth in the USD 6.8 trillion wellbeing economy.

Longevity is also creating opportunities in the financial sector. As individuals live and work longer, demand for life, health and retirement-related insurance is increasing globally, financial solution providers are poised to benefit.

A diagnostic revolution in health

The strategy

Healthy Living goes far beyond traditional healthcare, investing across nutrition, physical wellbeing, prevention, and technological innovation. Recognizing that individuals need clean environments and financial security to thrive, the strategy also invests in companies that promote environmental safety, workforce productivity and life-long financial resilience.

The strategy is exposed to companies that may benefit from the accelerating real-world adoption of artificial intelligence, particularly in healthcare, in life sciences, health services and the workplace, where AI is advancing drug discovery and diagnostics, and human productivity.
