About this fund

Robeco Euro Credit Bonds is an actively managed fund providing diversified exposure to Euro investment grade credits. The fund can invest to a limited extent outside the Benchmark in high yield-rated debt, securitized debt and non-Euro denominated bonds. All risks from exchange rate fluctuations are hedged. The selection of these bonds is based on fundamental analysis. Performance drivers are the top-down beta positioning as well as bottom-up issuer selection. The fund's objective is to provide long-term capital growth.

Jan Willem de Moor is Portfolio Manager Investment Grade with a focus on European and financial bonds. Working together with the Insurance and Pensions Solutions team, he is also responsible for the management of buy & maintain portfolios. Prior to joining Robeco in 2005, he worked at the Dutch Medical professionals’ pension fund as an Equity Portfolio Manager and at SNS Asset Management as an Equity Portfolio Manager. Jan Willem has been active in the industry since 1994. He holds a Master's in Economics from Tilburg University. Jan Willem Knoll is Portfolio Manager Investment Grade in the Credit team. He joined the Credit team in 2016 as Analyst for the Financials sector. Previously, Jan Willem headed the Financials Equity sell-side research team at ABN AMRO. He started his career in the industry in 1999 at APG, where he held several positions including Portfolio Manager of global insurance portfolio pan-European financials portfolios. Jan Willem holds a Master’s in Business Economics from the University of Groningen and he is a CFA® Charterholder. Joost Breeuwsma is Portfolio Manager Investment Grade in the Credit team. He has a focus on European investment grade portfolios and global green bond portfolios. Prior to starting his career and joining Robeco in 2017 as a credit analyst, he obtained a Master’s with Distinction in Financial Mathematics from King’s College London.

Tracking error ex-post (%) The ex-post tracking error is defined as the volatility of the fund's achieved excess return over the index return. In fund management, most managers are subject to an ex-ante (pre-determined) tracking error, which defines the extent of the additional risk they may take when aspiring to outperform the fund's benchmark. The ex-post tracking error explains the distribution of past fund performances compared to those of its underlying benchmark. With a higher tracking error, the fund's returns deviate more from its index's returns, hence there is a greater chance that the fund may outperform. Fiscal product treatment

The fund is established in Luxembourg and is subject to the Luxembourg tax laws and regulations. The fund is not liable to pay any corporation, income, dividend or capital gains tax in Luxembourg. The fund is subject to an annual subscription tax ('tax d'abonnement') in Luxembourg, which amounts to 0.05% of the net asset value of the fund. This tax is included in the net asset value of the fund. The fund can in principle use the Luxembourg treaty network to partially recover any withholding tax on its income.

Fiscal treatment of investor

The fiscal consequences of investing in this fund depend on the investor's personal situation. For private investors in the Netherlands real interest and dividend income or capital gains received on their investments are not relevant for tax purposes. Each year investors pay income tax on the value of their net assets as at 1 January if and inasmuch as such net assets exceed the investor’s tax-free allowance. Any amount invested in the fund forms part of the investor's net assets. Private investors who are resident outside the Netherlands will not be taxed in the Netherlands on their investments in the fund. However, such investors may be taxed in their country of residence on any income from an investment in this fund based on the applicable national fiscal laws. Market development

Markets stayed firm in October, supported by continued solid data and a generally positive earnings season. Tariff threats from President Trump early on in the month sparked a risk-off move, but later meetings with President Xi delivered a renewed truce. However, the extended shutdown keeps US political stress heightened. Rates rallied alongside equities. The Fed cut its policy rate by 25 bps in late October but signaled that another December move was not assured, while the ECB and the Bank of Japan left policy unchanged. French sovereign debt traded slightly tighter across the curve in October in sympathy with other European sovereigns. However, French banks remain weak given the continued volatile political environment in France. Credit markets remained resilient. Concerns around private credit and regional banks weighed on financials, especially in the US, but fundamentals and inflows kept global spreads broadly stable despite hyperscaler jumbo issuance, which added pressure to USD spreads. European IG spreads tightened further in October, again ending the month at cyclical tights.

Performance explanation

Based on transaction prices, the fund's return was 0.75%. The underlying portfolio posted a strong return in October; both credit spreads and underlying government bond yields fell. The average index spread ended the month at 76 basis points, 3 bps lower than at the end of September. The performance of the portfolio was just below that of the index. The beta positioning of the portfolio was very close to neutral, with a very small positive performance impact from beta as credit spreads tightened. Issuer selection provided a marginally negative contribution to performance, coming mainly from banking, insurance and consumer cyclical credits. Our allocation to Tier-2 bonds underperformed slightly on a risk-adjusted basis, while our underweight in longer maturities added to performance. The best-performing individual positions in the portfolio, on a risk-adjusted basis, were Carnival Corp, Standard Chartered and Linde. Detractors from performance were Celanese, MetLife and Fiserv.

Credit markets enter the last quarter of the year in a state of calm complacency. Spreads sit at new cycle lows, even as growth slows and inflation risks persist. Strong technicals and fading memories of past drawdowns keep investors comfortably long, yet valuations offer no margin for error. US credit continues to defy fundamentals as slowing labor demand, margin pressure, and political interference at the Fed risk reigniting inflation just as growth cools. We maintain a defensive stance, preferring shorter spread duration and higher-quality issuers. Europe remains our favored region, supported by steadier fundamentals, near-target inflation, and strong corporate balance sheets. Euro credit benefits from firm demand, limited supply, and a more balanced policy mix. Sector-wise, we stay overweight in financials – especially in European bank subordinated debt – given resilience to mild slowdowns or geopolitical stress, while taking profits in corporate hybrids. We avoid weaker areas such as chemicals, US homebuilders, and construction materials. Credit markets feel 'comfortably numb': supported by technicals, detached from fundamentals, and increasingly exposed to complacency.
