The fund is established in Luxembourg and is subject to the Luxembourg tax laws and regulations. The fund is not liable to pay any corporation, income, dividend or capital gains tax in Luxembourg. The fund is subject to an annual subscription tax ('tax d'abonnement') in Luxembourg, which amounts to 0.01% of the net asset value of the fund. This tax is included in the net asset value of the fund. The fund can in principle use the Luxembourg treaty network to partially recover any withholding tax on its income.

Investors who are not subject to (exempt from) Dutch corporate-income tax (e.g. pension funds) are not taxed on the achieved result. Investors who are subject to Dutch corporate-income tax can be taxed for the result achieved on their investment in the fund. The MSCI India outperformed the MSCI EM and MXAPJ by 2.9% each in the month of June (USD) after six months of underperformance. The positive trend in the equity market was driven by a) lower oil prices (Brent -38% down from its peak at the end of March, to approximately USD 73) b) RBI's measures to attract dollars (removal of interest rate ceilings on FCNR deposits for 3–5-year tenors) c) the government's removal of LTCG/withholding taxes on FPIs for eligible government securities d) the US and Iran signing an memorandum of understanding to end the war. Broader market participation was strong in June, as mid and small caps outperformed the MSCI India benchmark by 0.35% and 3.5%, respectively. Despite heightened worries about India's current account during the Strait of Hormuz crisis, it has held up well. According to JP Morgan estimates, over the past six months, including the critical March-May peak of the West Asia crisis, the current account has been neutral to in surplus, courtesy of strong services exports and remittances, along with an uptick in goods exports – particularly electronics and petroleum products. These have been able to offset the negative impact of higher crude prices.

Based on transaction prices, the fund's return was 2.79%. Based on transaction prices on the first business day of the month, the fund's return was - %. Based on net asset value, the fund outperformed the benchmark by 3.02%. Stock selection in consumer discretionary, materials, industrials and IT contributed positively to the portfolio performance, while healthcare and financials detracted. Consumer discretionary, one of our key overweights, contributed positively to the performance. There was a positive contribution from lower allocation to industrials, and then mainly to defense and power equipment manufacturers, where we continue to see challenges in both earnings estimates and elevated valuation multiples. Key stock contributors were KPR, Arvind, HDFC bank, Nykaa and Tata Capital, which positively contributed to performance, on the back of continued differentiation emerging in the market basis's ability to deliver favorable business outcomes in today's volatile environment. Our stock selection has started to contribute positively, as stronger earnings growth pockets along with resilience are getting rewarded in the current market.

Indian economy seems to have weathered reasonably well in the current Middle East crisis, maintaining a neutral to surplus current account through the crisis. Looking beyond the crisis, we argue that India is reasonably well-placed on both the macro and market fronts, with an oversold currency and consensus expectations of broad-based, double-digit earnings growth providing a strong tailwind. The anticipated crude oil decline after the US-Iran deal and opening of the Strait of Hormuz has started to play out. At crude prices below USD 80, most of the negative impact of higher energy prices on India's macro gets almost fully negated. In addition, the recent actions by the RBI are now expected to add to the economic growth momentum that was building up in the economy, reflected in the sharp revival of the system credit growth to approximately 18%. RBI's move related to the FCNR(B) deposit may lead to reasonable dollar inflows (expectation of USD 50 billion+) supporting the currency and boosting liquidity in the system, thus aiding credit growth.
