Pensioenfonds ING selects Robeco for integral ESG mandate

Rotterdam, 15 October 2019 - Robeco has been selected by Pensioenfonds ING as a partner in its sustainable investments policy. With an invested capital of around EUR 28 billion and nearly 70,000 participants, Pensioenfonds ING is one of the larger corporate pension funds in the Netherlands.

Robeco will advise Pensioenfonds ING on ESG issues, for example in the field of policy, legislation and regulations; carry out voting and engagement activities for the pension fund; and, in collaboration with Corestone, provide ESG screening and reporting activities on the total portfolio. In this way, ING underlines the importance it attaches to sustainability and takes the next step towards its long-term goal of ensuring a good pension for all participants. Pensioenfonds ING is the now-closed pension fund in which current and former employees of ING Bank and NN Group accrued pension until 2014.

Wim van Iersel, Executive Director Pensioenfonds ING: “We want to give substance to the pension agreements that ING Bank and NN Group have placed with us for their current and former employees. In this context, sustainability is an important aspect that will only become more important in the future. We look forward to working with Robeco in the field of sustainable investing.”

André van den Heuvel, Head of Institutional Clients NL & Nordics Robeco: “With Pensioenfonds ING, we have found a partner that, just like us, attaches great importance to sustainable investment solutions. We share the conviction that a holistic ESG approach that includes all facets of sustainability leads to better substantiated and consistent investment decisions, with the aim of realizing a good pension for participants of Pensioenfonds ING. The combination of the various ESG facets makes this a unique collaboration and a good match. We are delighted with the confidence that the pension fund has placed in our knowledge and experience, and look forward to implementing this together.”
