Sustainable investing internship: Shareholder Rights project

Duration: 4-6 months

Are you a MSc student or MBA student looking to work at the cutting edge of academia and practice in sustainability? We have great research projects for you to learn in our SI Center of Expertise. Robeco has been recognized by Morningstar as one of the six global ESG leaders in asset management in their latest research. You can get a taste of it by becoming one of our SI interns.

The Active Ownership team conducts engagement with more than 200 companies in our investment portfolio to encourage companies to improve their performance on environmental, social and governance (ESG). Interns support this process by taking part in the baseline research project group that defines the engagement objectives. The projects typically take 4 to 6 months and the interns are an integral part of the project working group, delivering significant research output for our clients. You will also participate in the conference calls with the companies we invest in to discuss their sustainability strategy.

A specific part of your research work will cover the state of shareholder rights and regulation facilitating the influence of institutional investors in portfolio companies across the globe. Shareholder rights and guidelines for stewardship enable institutional investors to adequately address strategic, sustainability related and other long-term risks in their portfolios. The research will be the starting point for Robeco’s global policy engagement on shareholder rights as part of our engagement priorities for 2025.
