Sustainable Investing Internship Program (Singapore)

Robeco has been in APAC region since 2007. There are now offices in major financial centers across 5 countries in the region, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Japan and Australia. APAC is both a distribution and marketing hub with 104 employees, of which 29 are investment professionals (as of Feb 2024). In June 2023, the AUM under Asia Pacific was USD 32.4 billion. Sales and marketing coverage is across 12 markets or countries. Robeco has been recognised as sustainable investing leader in Asia with several industry awards (see Appendix).

Robeco is seeking to set up a Sustainable Investing (SI) Internship Program in Singapore by appointing one Sustainable Investing Intern to work on different aspects of the sustainability investing research space. The internship position will sit within Investments and report to the designated colleague from the SI Center of Expertise based in Singapore. Candidates will undertake their internship from May/June and the duration of the program will be between 3-6 months.

Interns will be involved in individual company review on sustainability performance and engagement research by conducting a peer group analysis of companies’ performance on environmental management, human rights or corporate governance in a project group. Interns will also participate in the conference calls with the companies we invest in to discuss their sustainability strategy.

Description of Sustainable Investing internship:

• Deliver an engagement baseline research analyzing a sustainability challenge, reflecting on the relevance of the matter for investors, defining the company engagement objectives and conducting company research.

• Collaborate with colleagues across Robeco’s SI Center of Expertise and Investment teams to deliver the engagement baseline research.

• Participate in conference calls with the companies we invest in to discuss their sustainability strategy.

• Support the SI APAC team in conducting sector and/or thematic research.

• Contribute to discussions with colleagues within Robeco’s SI Center of Expertise and across investment teams.
  

We are interested to work with final stage MSc students from a broad range of studies. Many former interns started their internship with us during the writing phase of the thesis, to kickstart your professional career while graduating with relevant work experience. The role will require close coordination with several different groups including the Active Ownership team (Rotterdam-based), Sustainable Investing Research team (Zurich-based) and Investment teams (Hong Kong, Singapore and Rotterdam-based).

• Pursuing a degree on a relevant field connected to sustainability topics – e.g. environmental sciences, sociology, philosophy, biology, business administration or finance.

• Skills in research methods, social engagement, data analytics, creativity and inquisitiveness - all centred around sustainability.

• Availability to work full time in Singapore for a period of 3-6 months. Starting date: May/June 2024.

• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint. Intermediate level skills in Excel.

• Meeting the legal requirements to work in Singapore (Robeco is unable to sponsor an Employment Pass for these vacancies)
