Currency policy

The fund is allowed to pursue an active currency policy to generate extra returns.

Dividend policy

The fund does not distribute dividend. The fund retains any income that is earned and so its entire performance is reflected in its share price.

ESG Integration policy

The fund’s sustainable investment objective is to contribute to keeping global temperature rise well-below 2°C by reducing the carbon footprint of the fund. Climate change and sustainability considerations are incorporated in the investment process via exclusions, ESG integration, as well as voting. Firstly, the fund does not invest in stock issuers that are in breach of international norms or where activities have been deemed detrimental to society following Robeco's exclusion policy. This includes activity-based exclusions of Article 12 of the EU regulation on Climate Transition Benchmarks, EU Paris-aligned Benchmarks and sustainability-related disclosures for benchmarks as applicable. Secondly, the fund focuses on investing in companies that have set Net Zero goals by 2050 and examines other financially material ESG factors in the portfolio construction. Thirdly, by restricting the GHG emissions, the carbon footprint of the fund is made lower than that of the Climate transition benchmark to ensure alignment with the desired decarbonization trajectory of 7% year on year. Further, where a stock issuer is flagged for breaching international standards in the ongoing monitoring, the issuer will become subject to exclusion. Lastly, the fund makes use of shareholder rights and applies proxy voting in accordance with Robeco's proxy voting policy.

Investment policy

RobecoSAM Net Zero 2050 Climate Equities is an actively managed fund that invests in stocks in developed countries across the world, with the sustainable investment objective of decarbonization towards Net Zero. The selection of these stocks is based on fundamental analysis. The fund also aims to achieve a better return than the index. The fund has sustainable investment as its objective within the meaning of Article 9 of the European Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation. The fund contributes to keeping the maximum global temperature rise well-below 2°C by reducing the carbon footprint of the portfolio in line with the MSCI World Climate Change Index. The foregoing is implemented by essentially actively investing in companies that contribute to achieve Net Zero goals by 2050 The fund integrates ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) factors in the investment process and applies Robeco’s Good Governance policy. The fund applies sustainability indicators, including but not limited to, normative, and activity-based exclusions in line with Article 12 of the EU regulation on Climate Transition Benchmarks, and proxy voting. The fund is managed against a Benchmark that is consistent with the sustainable investment objectives pursued by the fund. It aims to align with the Climate Transition requirements on greenhouse gas emission reduction. The majority of stocks selected will be components of the Benchmark, but stocks outside the Benchmark may be selected too. The fund can deviate from the weightings of the Benchmark. The fund aims to outperform the Benchmark over the long run, whilst still controlling relative risk through the applications of limits (on countries, currencies and sectors) to the extent of deviation from the Benchmark. This will consequently limit the deviation of the performance relative to the Benchmark.

Risk policy

Risk management is fully embedded in the investment process to ensure that positions always meet predefined guidelines

Expectation of fund manager

{{'fund.detail.general.perDate' | labelize:[ fundDate(fund.fundFacts.date,'llll') ]}}

Both the state of climate change and global equity markets remain in a precarious place. It is clear that continued elevated inflation and the nervous response by central banks, are resulting in demand destruction and increasing economic hardship. At the same time, with energy being the bedrock of inflation, the urge for green capex plans that help address these issues seems higher than ever. Recent policy initiatives such as the REPowerEU plan and the US' Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) will certainly accelerate climate-related investments and spur innovation, though they will likely not be an immediate panacea to fill the gap of what is globally needed to be on track with a net-zero pathway by 2050. With our investment strategy, we clearly want to be positioned in the companies best positioned to tackle climate change. At the same time, we also want to prepare ourselves against a further weakening of the economic backdrop, hence we have firmed up on our exposure to high-quality companies with strong operational track records. With still shaky markets, we remain vigilant and on the look-out for bright spots to capitalize on with our strategy.
