Performance explanation

{{'fund.detail.general.perDate' | labelize:[ fundDate(fund.fundInvestmentExplanations.date,'llll') ]}}

Political risk and the US dollar continue to drive markets at the moment. However, with risk-free rates at more normalized levels now, their movement is uncorrelated with credit spreads again. The total return of the fund was positive, with a 0.31% return in USD.

Market development

{{'fund.detail.general.perDate' | labelize:[ fundDate(fund.fundInvestmentExplanations.date,'llll') ]}}

In September, credit markets were relatively stable, resulting in the Credits Income fund reporting a positive return of +0.31%. Global investment grade credits returned -0.54%, while emerging market credits returned +0.94% and high yield credits +0.53%. US credits outperformed European credits in investment grade. As higher US interest rates impacted returns of credit markets over the month, shorter-dated and high-yielding assets outperformed substantially. In several markets, which had previously been under pressure, credit spreads moved lower as markets stabilized after a volatile summer. Rising interest rates, a stronger dollar and several geopolitical risks are still on the horizon and warrant a cautious approach going forward.

Expectation of fund manager

{{'fund.detail.general.perDate' | labelize:[ fundDate(fund.fundFacts.date,'llll') ]}}

Our fundamental view on credit markets remains the same; we still believe we are in the last phase of this cycle. We do not, however, see the world economy going into a recession in the medium term. Higher oil prices and slower global trade could however result in slower growth and higher inflation. Several markets have performed very well in the last weeks, making them less attractive again. Especially markets such as Turkey or Mexico gave back most of their emerging market premium.
