The Department

Robeco's Global Legal Affairs department is responsible for handling all legal aspects of Robeco's international business and comprises of around 20 staff divided into 4 compact and focused teams (Investment Support, Sales Support, Corporate Support, Group Secretariat). In addition, member of the department is also one legal counsel based in Robeco's Hong Kong office with responsibility for the Asia-Pacific region.

The Function

We are looking for a senior counsel in the Corporate Support team. The responsibilities of the Corporate team are broad and include a.o. legal developments/regulatory matters, corporate structure, litigation, M&A and governance related matters, all within the context of a pure play asset management company and with a strong focus on supporting Robeco's business. The senior counsel is also able to support the tasks and responsibilities of the other teams within the Legal department where necessary. Robeco's services are provided through a number of international sales offices, both in the EU, the US, the Middle-East and Asia. This function is based in Robeco's new state of the art headquarters in Rotterdam.
This is a truly international function in a highly competitive and result-oriented organization. To strengthen our team we are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel.


You have thorough knowledge of and experience with the investment management industry and its regulation, fund structures and financial instruments, within a Dutch and international context. In addition you have good knowledge of corporate law matters. You are a solution-oriented team player but able to work independently if needed to deliver the desired results. You are client-oriented, flexible and hardworking. You have excellent communication skills in English, both in writing and orally.


  • university law degree, in the Netherlands or elsewhere in the EU
  • knowledge of EU financial law (a.o. UCITS, AIFMD, MiFID 2)
  • at least 5-10 years' work experience, preferably at a financial institution or large law firm
  • an international mindset and good drafting skills
