C&S Data Management

The Continuity & Stability department (C&S) is responsible for stability, security, business continuity and reliability of Robeco’s data (processing) and IT environment. Within C&S, the Data Management team is responsible for maintaining and delivering high quality investment related data throughout the Robeco organization. Robeco uses a centralized data platform which is connected to other applications. The data required by the Robeco organization is rapidly growing. Internal stakeholders are continuously demanding more data to support their (investment) processes, where time to market of the data is key. The Data Management department works closely with Front Office, Client Services, Risk Management and IT functions.

To support the increasing demand for data we want to expand our team with a Operational Data Manager. We offer a dynamic environment, due to the large variety of stakeholder initiatives.

Job responsibilities Operational Data Manager

The Operational Data Manager participates in the daily data operations to deliver high quality data needed for order generation, portfolio management, portfolio monitoring and reporting. Furthermore, the Operational Data Manager supports internal stakeholders on data related requests and keeps track on the data quality provided by vendors.

Main activities of Operational Data Manager

  • Handles exceptions related to the sourcing, mastering, validation and distribution of (market) data (e.g. prices, analytics, reference data, index & benchmark data, restriction lists etc.);
  • Monitors daily process of data delivery from vendors and take action in cooperation with C&S Monitoring & Control and / or IT Delivery teams in case of disruptions/errors;
  • Challenges data vendors on the data quality and services provided on ad-hoc basis;
  • Handles queries from internal stakeholders on data related topics (e.g. set up new securities, indices, benchmarks, restriction lists, ad-hoc request for market data etc.);
  • Recommends adjustments in the data management system to improve accuracy and efficiency of the data management system and assist by the execution of test activities;
  • Documents procedures;
  • Reports on data related subjects (periodically and ad-hoc basis);

Requested skills / competences

You are a highly motivated professional who can learn on the job. You are a flexible team player with problem-solving capabilities who is comfortable in working under tight deadlines and knows when to escalate. You have a college degree or comparable, with good communication skills. The candidate should be able to function individual as well as in the team. Knowledge of market data and financial instruments is a prerequisite.

You also have the following skills, knowledge or experience:
  • Good communication skills in Dutch and English (verbal and written)
  • Ability to troubleshoot, analyze and address data issues and omissions
  • Identifies improvements on processes and tooling (automation) and collaborates in improving operational activities;
  • Good analytical and numerical skills;
  • Flexible and organized person with detail focus;
  • Positive and pragmatic with a "can do" mentality;
  • Proactive and internal client focused;
  • Team player/ organization sensitive;
  • Experience with MS Excel, Access and SQL is a strong benefit.

Other features of the function

The data management department operates from 05:15 to 19:00 and preferred candidates are flexible to work in this time window.
