Legal Counsel (full-time)

The Department

Robeco's Global Legal Affairs department is responsible for handling all legal aspects of Robeco's international business and comprises of around 20 staff divided into 4 compact and focused teams (Investment Support, Sales Support, Corporate Support, Group Secretariat). In addition, member of the department is also one legal counsel based in Robeco's Hong Kong office with responsibility for the Asia-Pacific region.

The Function

We are looking for a (medior) counsel in the Legal Investment Support team. The Legal Investment Support team is responsible for providing legal support for Robeco's investment related activities (trading and derivatives, overlay management, private debt, active ownership and private equity) all within the context of a pure play asset management company and with a strong focus on supporting the business of Robeco's clients. We are looking for a counsel to advise and support the business and to strengthen this team. He/she has a demonstrable affinity or experience with securities law, financial supervision law, (collective) asset management and financial instruments. Knowledge and experience in the field of trading and derivatives (ISDA, GMRA, GMSLA, Central Clearing documentation) is a definite advantage. You will report to the team head. Your range of tasks has a clear focus but is also varied in nature. You maintain internal and external contacts (also internationally) with the departments within the organization and also with external (legal) advisors. This is a truly hands-on function in a highly competitive, international and result-oriented organization.

Robeco's services are provided through a number of international sales offices, both in the EU, the US, the Middle-East and Asia. This function is based in Robeco's new state of the art headquarters in Rotterdam.


You have thorough knowledge of and experience with the investment management industry and its regulation and financial instruments, within a Dutch and international context.

You are a solution-oriented team player but able to work independently if needed to deliver the desired results. You are client-oriented, flexible and hardworking. You have excellent communication skills in English and Dutch, both in writing and orally.


  • university law degree, in the Netherlands or elsewhere in the EU
  • knowledge of EU financial law (a.o. UCITS, AIFMD, MiFID 2, EMIR)
  • at least 5 years' work experience, preferably at a financial institution or large law firm
  • an international mindset and good drafting skills
