The department

Robeco Private Equity ("RPE") is a private equity investor with currently over EUR 2 billion of Assets under Management. RPE is situated in Rotterdam and London, investing in private equity opportunities through primary and secondary fund investments as well as co-investments. RPE manages funds and mandates (together: “products”) for both institutional and retail clients with a team of about 20 professionals. As part of Robeco, an asset management firm operating globally with over EUR 150 billion in AuM, RPE has a long history in, and strong focus on, utilizing quantitative research to support its investment and risk management processes.

The position

We are currently further strengthening our Finance & Operations team within Robeco Private Equity and do have an opportunity for a temporary/interim role as a Finance & Operations Specialist until the end of 2018. You will operate out of the Rotterdam office. The Finance & Operations Specialist will be primarily supporting the finance & operations function of Robeco Private Equity in the day-to-day operations, especially supporting our financial accounting and financial reporting (including client reporting) and operational processes. The Finance & Operations Specialist reports to the Head of Finance & Operations Private Equity.

Main tasks of the Finance & Operations Specialist include:

  • preparing timely, high-quality, accurate and accessible financial reports including the annual financial statements for our funds and supporting further development of these reports;
  • Support in the audit process of the annual financial statement audits for our funds;
  • Support in the tax and legal/compliance processes around the fund structures;
  • Preparing other agreed-upon client reports;
  • Prepare ad hoc portfolio and performance reports and make required calculations for these reports;
  •  Preparing, managing and providing fiscal and other documentation related to our tax and compliance processes;
  • Coordinate payment process for cash disbursement activities and periodic cash reconciliation process for all our products.


We are looking for candidates with 3-5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a financial accounting or operational function within an asset management firm or fund environment. You have:

  • Experience with and interest in (fund) accounting applications (e.g. Investran, SimCorp, E-front, Peoplesoft, Exact etc.)
  • Experience with and/or affinity with tax and legal/compliance processes and requirements around fund structures
  • strong MS Excel skills
  • the ability to work independently and in a structured and well-documented manner
  • the employee in this role is responsible for following established guidelines and identifying and resolving problems.
  • Employees are expected to use independence of thought for the allocated tasks and refer more complex problems to their supervisor.
  • Employees in this role are primarily responsible for the timing and quality of our regular reporting and fund administration.

You are pro-active, self-motivated, independent and well-organized. Accuracy and organizing, also under pressure, are necessary skills for this role. You need to be fluent in English, both in speech and in writing.
