The Robeco Foundation’s mission is to help create equal opportunities for disadvantaged children by investing in skills development through education.
The Robeco Foundation contributes to educational projects aimed at helping disadvantaged children reach their full potential. Efforts focus on countries where Robeco has a presence in order to strengthen the bond with the local community. The Foundation aims to achieve its mission through both financial contributions combined with the voluntary efforts of Robeco employees on the ground.
Our mission began in 2018 with the Rotterdam Digital Skills Program, in the city where Robeco has its head office. In 2019, the Foundation expanded internationally by signing a partnership with Room to Read, a non-profit focused on girls’ education and children’s literacy in Asia and Africa. Support for other Rotterdam-based and international programs followed and the ambition is to expand to more cities where Robeco has a presence.
Robeco is committed to contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and is a signatory to the Dutch SDG Investing Agenda.
Robeco has a longstanding tradition of supporting sustainable growth via our activities in the fields of investment, engagement and active ownership. The Foundation was established as a means of matching this business focus of contributing to the SDGs with social commitment activities. To achieve this goal, the Foundation actively invests in local educational programs aimed at supporting financially disadvantaged children around the world.
The 17 SDGs aim to make the world a better place by their target end-date of 2030, focusing on initiatives that range from reducing hunger and ill health to promoting equal opportunities for women and children. The SDGs are drivers for positive change around the globe; their principles are incorporated in much of the integrated sustainable investing work practiced within Robeco.
The Robeco Foundation wants to contribute to three SDGs in particular:
