Rotterdam, 1 September 2013 - Robeco and its subsidiary RobecoSAM, the investment specialist focused exclusively on Sustainability Investing, announce the publication of a magazine naming the 10 corporations that are changing their industries through innovations in sustainability. The magazine features as the cornerstone of Robeco’s global Sustainability Investing (SI) ad campaign, to be launched on September 2nd.
The magazine, a one-time publication called “The 10 Game Changers”, recognizes ABB, ASML, Cephid, DSM, Fibria, Holcim, Manila Water, Mead Johnson, Unilever and Westpac for their ability and ongoing efforts to drive their respective industries towards a more sustainable future. Additionally, the magazine features exclusive interviews with prominent members of the Sustainability Investing community, including Professor Robert G. Eccles of the Harvard Business School and Roger Urwin of Towers Watson. It also tells the story of how pension funds and investment companies, such as 1875 Finance, AP3 and the Environment Agency Active Pension Fund (EAPF), are integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors into their portfolio management strategy.
Roderick Munsters, CEO Robeco Group: “Robeco systematically incorporates an analysis of financially material ESG factors into its investment activities. We do this because we strongly believe - and demonstrate on an ongoing basis - that it improves the risk/return profile of our clients' investments. More than EUR 100 bn of AuM at Robeco include integrated ESG information. The 10 Game Changers magazine provides our stakeholders with an insider look at Sustainability Investing by featuring thought leadership and incisive insight from some of the largest proponents in the industry.”
Michael Baldinger, CEO RobecoSAM: “We aim to demystify Sustainability Investing, showing institutional investors the many sophisticated ways in which it can be applied, embraced and implemented across all asset classes. As a result we expect three things to happen: Sustainability Investing will become mainstream, there will be no more excuses for not integrating it and the question of why a client should adopt it will no longer be asked.”
Changing the game is described by RobecoSAM as modifying manufacturing methods or service delivery systems, a large commitment to research and development, and a corporate will to make a difference. SI ranks high on the Robeco strategic agenda. With its new campaign and magazine, the company aims to underwrite the importance of progress made in this field as well as encourage and inspire awareness about the relevance and added value of sustainability in the industry.
