“FIRST” Rotterdam new location for Robeco’s head office as of 2016

01-01-2012 | Press release Robeco today announced its intention to move to a new location in 2016.

Robeco today announced its intention to move to a new location in 2016. The premises will be in the new “FIRST” building to be constructed on Weena opposite Rotterdam Central Station.

After thorough and careful analysis, Robeco has come to the conclusion that the present premises no longer meet the company’s requirements in terms of enabling people to work together and share knowledge effectively. Roderick Munsters, CEO Robeco Group:”Robeco intends to implement new ways of working. As a result, our organization needs an open and transparent building that will encourage communication and cooperation while at the same time offering the kind of flexibility that will allow us to cut back or expand in future, as required. Our present Robeco building, which has housed us for 20 years, can no longer meet these requirements even after extensive renovation. For this reason we have decided to move to a new location in 2016 when our current rental contract expires. The new premises will be in a new, different type of building on Weena in Rotterdam.”

“Our choice fell on “FIRST”, because the location meets a number of important requirements: we stay in Rotterdam, where our roots are; the site is easily accessible by public transport, car and bicycle; and it is a sustainable construction in the heart of Rotterdam.”, Munsters adds.

Hamit Karakus, member of the municipal council of Rotterdam, who is responsible for housing, real estate, urban planning and economy, has responded positively to Robeco’s plans. “I am very happy with Robeco’s decision. This is a major development for the Rotterdam Central District. Robeco is not only staying in Rotterdam – it will also support the development in this area around the new central station.”

The “FIRST” building will be constructed by Maarsen Groep and MAB Development. Robeco will rent a large part of the building (16,000 m2).
