From 1 January 2012, Pensioenfonds Vervoer (transport pension fund) will hire Robeco to provide integrated management services for its pension assets of almost EUR 11 billion. Robeco will assist Pensioenfonds Vervoer in establishing a strategic investment policy and implement the policy once it has been adopted. In addition, Robeco will be responsible for selecting and monitoring the fund’s external asset managers.
Pensioenfonds Vervoer takes care of pensions for employees, former employees and retirees in the transport sector. The fund has 191.339 active participants, 342.498 members entitled to deferred benefits and 63.486 retired participants.
“During the selection process Robeco turned out to be the party most capable of integrally supporting the asset management needs of Pensioenfonds Vervoer”, said Roelie Hidding and Leon Ceelen, respectively the employees’ and employers’ chairmen of the Board of Trustees of Pensioenfonds Vervoer. “We are confident that our assets will be in good hands with Robeco. We are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation.”
Hans Rademaker, member of Robeco’s Management Board: “We are proud that Pensioenfonds Vervoer has chosen Robeco as their new provider of integrated asset management services. In recent years we have invested a great deal in bringing together the various components needed to form a high-quality total solution for institutions, combining strategic policy advice, portfolio construction, manager selection and monitoring, risk management and management information reporting capabilities within our Investment Solutions group based in the Netherlands and Switzerland. This cooperation with Pensioenfonds Vervoer fits well with Robeco’s ambitions in the institutional market and particularly those in the field of integrated asset management. The process of winning this tender has been an intensive one, but ultimately rewarding. We now look forward to getting down to business together with Pensioenfonds Vervoer.”
